Paul Dean Ormsby, Jr., 77 of Midland, Texas, passed away peacefully on the 5th of August 2022 with his wife, two sons, and cousins by marriage, Ron and Kathy Dill of Midland, at his side.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, May 6, 2023, in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Paul was born on July 15, 1945, in Gorman, Texas to Paul Dean Ormsby, Sr. and Francis LaRue Dean Ormsby. Paul lived for six years in Gorman as a child. His grandparents were a memorable part of his childhood. ‘Pop’ Ormsby owned the grocery store in Gorman and ‘Papa’ Dean was a Cotton and Peanut Buyer and Mayor of Gorman. Paul moved to Borger, Texas in the second grade where his Dad worked for Phillips Petroleum Company until retirement. Paul loved playing the Cornet in the band at Borger High School, where he graduated in 1964. Paul married his wife, Pennie Auld in the Chapel of the First Baptist Church at Borger, Texas on August 26, 1967. Paul’s hobbies included chess, car racing, golfing, cigars, fishing, guns, archery, model airplanes, Neil Diamond concerts, Doberman Pinchers, and traveling with his mom and dad on family vacations. Paul attended Texas Tech University and worked as an Advertising Manager for Albertsons as well as Operations Manager for Albertsons. Paul loved to visit with many personal friends, Robert Ramirez of Lubbock, Max Chow of Denton, Reggie Bell of Dallas, to name a few special friends. Paul’s life as an adult mostly centered around his Family and Friends.
Paul is survived by his wife of 55 years; a son, Phillip Dean Ormsby and his wife, Jody Maack Ormsby, and their son, Jaden Dean Ormsby of Midland; a son, Wesley Dean Ormsby of Midland and his daughter, Alyssa LaRue Ormsby, of Lubbock; numerous cousins; and a host of extended family.
Paul is preceded in death by his Father, Paul Dean Ormsby and his Mother, Francis LaRue Dean Ormsby.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards Hospice of Midland, Midland Memorial Hospital Staff, his Neurologist, Cardiologist, and his Urologist.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Hospice of Midland, American Cancer Society, and Parkinson’s Foundation.
