Randale Cowan, 91, of Fritch, passed away Friday, September 21, 2012 in Amarillo.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 24, 2012 in the Garden Of Devotion at Westlawn Memorial Park, with Pastor Calvin Winters of the First Southern Baptist Church officiating. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Cowan will be at the Borger location for viewing.

Randale Cowan was born August 12, 1921 in Lohn, Texas to Charles G. Cowan and Lucy T. McMichaels Cowan. He was a longtime resident of Fritch, and served his country in the Army Air Corp during WW II from July 29, 1942 to September 7, 1945 as a Airplane Armorer Gunner. Randale also earned the distinguished flying cross with two bronze oak leaf clusters, and the air medal with two bronze oak leaf clusters. On March 4, 1944 he married Sybil West in Fritch, and was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church. Randale was on the Fritch City Council when Fritch was first organized, and was instrumental in starting the fire, police, and ambulance department. He also helped build the little league parks, and was a volunteer fireman, auxiliary police officer, and was inducted into the Military Hall of Fame in Pampa.

Survivors include three daughters Glenda J. Mattern of Denver, Colorado, Fran T. Thompson of Baytown, Randy L. Jarvis and husband George of Stinnett his son Charles A Cowan and wife Cindy of Amarillo his sister Lois Granger of Amarillo, 9 grandchildren, 15 greatgrandchildren, and 3 greatgreat grandchildren.

Randale Cowan is preceded in death by his wife Sybil Cowan March 15, 2000, and soninlaw William Mattern.
