Ray L. Owens, 98, passed from this life to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, January 8, 2022, in Woodward, Oklahoma, with his daughter Lynn and her husband Freddie, four granddaughters and a grandson by his side.
Ray was living in Woodward at the time of his death but was a resident of Borger for more than 75-years where he and his wife Nadine raised four daughters and a son.
Ray was born in Anadarko, OK on August 13, 1923, to Oma Owens and Cyrus Owens. He was raised by his stepfather William “Bill” Stutt.
For the first 80 years of his life, Ray thought he was an only child. That is until he learned he was blessed with two wonderful sisters. He enjoyed getting to know Linda Nicolai and Betty Broaddus and their seven daughters.
Ray worked for J.M. Huber for more than 20 years. Ray then opened two auto mechanic shops and he and Nadine successfully operated those for forty years until her passing in 1997. Just like the many motors and machines he expertly restored to working order over the years, Ray proved he still had plenty of miles left in him and continued to run the shop until the age of 94.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nadine, daughters Delores Brooks, Clara Nell Brooks, Helen Marie Versher, son Wayne Brooks, grandson Tony Brooks and sisters Linda Nicolai and Betty Broaddus.
Ray is survived by his daughter Lynn Isbell and husband Freddie of Woodward, OK; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
