Raymond Loftis

July 11, 1941 — April 22, 2018

Raymond " Jake " Loftis, 76 of Borger died Sunday April 22nd in Borger. Celebration of Life will be 2: 00 pm Saturday April 28th at Minton Memorial Chapel. Cremation was under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Jake was born July 11, 1941 in Lanesville, TX to George and Rachel ( Williams ) Loftis. He served in the US Army during Viet Nam where he received four accolades National Defense Medal , Viet Nam Service Medal, Viet Nam Campaign and Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of Jim Hall St. Church of Christ He worked as an operator for Natural Gas then mowed yards. He married LaWanda Coffer August 30, 1973 in Borger and would have been married 44 years this year. He loved sports and gospel music. He was instrumental in getting Booker T. Washington School designated as a State Historical Marker. He served on the alumni committee reunion of Booker T. Washington and was responsible for getting the Booker T. Washington Community Building. He coached Tri City Youth Football.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother James, sister Joanna Loftis and a half brother Donald Scallion.
Surviving is his wife LaWanda. Son Jaime R. Loftis and wife Jacey of La Porte, IN. Brothers George Loftis Jr., Robert Loftis and wife Martha and Charles " Pete " Loftis all of Borger. Sisters Melba Brooks of Dallas and Georgia Brown and husband Eugene of Pampa. Step sister Jean Scallion of Borger Grandchildren Kirstan Faith and Terrance Loftis.
