Borger Reba Jane Burris, 96, of Borger died Friday in Spearman. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Christ at Borger with Mr. Neville Buchanan, pastor officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Good Shepherd at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Casket bearers will be her grandsons - David L. Burris Sr., David L. Burris Jr., Greg Burris, David Barker, Mark Sponsel and George Pitzinger. Mrs. Burris was born November 10, 1910 in Pottsville, Arkansas to Thomas and Pearl Richmond. She married William Benjamin Burris on September 25, 1926 at Greenwood, Arkansas. Our grandmother was a wonderful woman and was a living example of striving to be Christ-like. I wish we knew how many hours she prayed for us and I know she still is. She was the most loving, gentle, kind, tender mother and grandmother and we were blessed beyond measure to have her in our lives. She was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband W.B. Burris in 1991, a daughter Shirley Hickman in 1982, two grandsons Carl Edward Hargis and Kelvin Hargis and a great grandchild William Pitzinger. Survivors include two sons - Donald Eldon Burris and wife Lois of Borger and Jimmy Dean Burris and wife Liz of Gainesville; two sisters - Patsy Gray and Maggie Lou Rachel both of Russellville, Arkansas, five grandchildren - David L. Burris Sr. and wife Chlo of Borger, Pamela K. Sponsel and husband Mark of Borger, Deanna Pitzinger and husband George of Valley View, Gregory Burris and wife Shelly of Gainseville and Denise Stout of Gainesville; seven great grandchildren - David L. Burris Jr. and wife Jennifer of Amarillo, Heather D. Barker and husband David of Borger, Laura Pitzinger, Jennifer Pitzinger, Molly Pitzinger and Stephanie Pitzinger all of Valley View and Nicholas Stout of Gainesville; and six great-great grandchildren - Tannin Michael McWilliams of Borger, Payton Jeremy Barker of Borger, Hannah Mackenzie Burris of Amarillo, Brendan Mitchell Burris of Amarillo, Aiden Michael Burris of Amarillo and Jillian McKay Burris of Amarillo. Family asks that memorials be made to Hansford Hospice, 707 Roland, Spearman, TX 79081. Family visitation will be Monday evening from 6-8 p.m.
