Reba Hood, of Panhandle passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2013 in Amarillo, Texas at the age of 92.
Reba was a member of the First Baptist Church of Panhandle. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday September 9, 2013 at Panhandle Cemetery in Panhandle, Texas under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.
Reba was born in Yates Center, Kansas on March 26 , 1921 to Johnny and Dillia Wescoat and was their only child. After some time in Kansas and Missouri, the Wescoat family moved to Amarillo, Texas in the early 1930s where Reba went to school and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1939.
Reba married Bennie Hood on December 9, 1939 and they had been married for
52 years when he passed away in 1991. The family moved to the farm between Panhandle and Amarillo near Lee Switch in 1944. Bennie served in WWII and Reba helped care for the family farm in his absence during the war. They moved from the farm into town at Panhandle in 1960 and spent many years there in business and calling it home. Reba now can boast a third generation of family going to school at Panhandle lSD.
Reba was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bennie. She is survived by her daughter, Carole Crawford and husband Billy and her son, Wayne Hood and wife Wanda both of Panhandle. Also she is survived by 5 grandchildren Cathy Hauslein and husband Rick, Cindy OBrien and husband Danny, Robert Hood and wife Melissa, Holly Hicks, and Denise Hood and by 8 great grandchildren.
