Richard Valenzuela, 66, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 21, 2014.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Childress. Mr. Valenzuela will lie in state at Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle from 9 am 8 pm Thursday and Friday.
Richard was born January 24, 1948 in Childress to Jesus and Rosa Valenzuela. In 1966 he graduated from Childress High School, there he played all kinds of sports and loved playing fast pitch softball. He enjoyed playing craps at the casino. Richard was a God fearing man and hard worker. He went above and beyond to provide faithfully for his family as a machine operator for Burlington Northern Sante Fe Rail Road.
He is preceded in death by his parents grandson, Tyler Ray Cobb and sister, Juanita Larned.
Survivors include the love of his life for 39 years, Bettie of the home daughters, Raelyn Hickman and her husband, Jeff of Springfield, Missouri, Donna Kay Wood of Argyle, Rhonda Harding of Colorado grandchildren, Skyler Ray Hickman, Courtney Hickman and one on the way due to arrive January 15, 2015 motherinlaw, Ellen Wade of Panhandle twin sister, Rita Guadian and her husband, Felix of New Braunfels sisters, Virginia Mendez of Amarillo, Victoria Scarberry of Amarillo, Rosalie Tarin of Glendale, California, Marie Bocanegra of Childress brother, Jesse Valenzuela of Amarillo numerous nieces and nephews and a host of extended family.
