Robert L. Pierce, 79, died Sunday, April 8th, 2007 in Amarillo, Texas.BRBRServices will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. Orville Rogers and Pastor Willy Adams officiating. Interment will be in Stinnett Cemetery under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.BRBRMr. Pierce was born on May 10, 1927 in Kiowa, Oklahoma to Jones Rhinehart and Edna Pierce. The family moved shortly afater his birth to O'Donnell, Tx. where he spent his early years. He enlisted in the US Navy at age 18, and was discharged in 1945 at the end of WW II. He worked as a projectionist in theatres such as Lowe's in Houston, and theatres all over New Mexico. He then attended West Texas University in Canyon, whe he met and married Hazel Louise Brally in 1957. He earned a bachelor of science degree in history and government in 1962, and taught social studies in Stinnett from 1962 through 1974. At that time he opened a print shop in Borger called Chaparelle Graphics which he operated until 1984. He also later worked as a security guard at Phillips for a number of years.BRBRHe is survived by his son, Robert Rhinehart Pierce of Stinnett, two brothers - Jones Rhinehart Pierce II of San Diego, CA., Billy Pierce of Lubbock, three sisters - Betty Cook and Jean Vulgamore both of O'Donnell, Tx., and Mary Rogers of Monument, NM.BRBRCasket bearers will be Paul Webber, Bob Green, Wes Leach, Rick Bennett, Pat Downing and Jim Johnston.BRBRMemorials may be made to your favorite charity.
