On July 29, 2021, surrounded by family, Robert E. Wilson went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Bob was a long-time resident of Stinnett, Texas. He was born on August 23, 1932, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, to Linnie and Pres Wilson.
Bob served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict on the USS Piedmont. He was awarded Good Conduct, Korean Service, United Nations Service, and National Defense medals. Upon returning home to Borger, he worked for Phillips Petroleum Company.
On January 21, 1956, Bob married the love of his life, Ruth Kasparek, in Clovis, New Mexico. They had three children: Gary, Karen, and Robin. While working for Phillips, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from West Texas State University, which allowed him to continue serving his community by educating the future generation. For 20 years, Mr. Wilson taught 7th and 8th grade social studies at Stinnett ISD. During that time, he also served as a seasonal park ranger for the National Park Service at Lake Meredith Recreation Area. After retiring from teaching, he continued to work as a full-time park ranger. He retired after 30 years of service at Lake Meredith.
Post-retirement, Bob enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He always greeted everyone with a smile and gave words of encouragement. As a lifelong learner, he shared the wisdom and insight he had gained with others.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Emsley Presley Wilson, his mother, Mary Melinda Hoff Wilson, and his grandson, Christopher D. Wilson.
Survivors include Bob's loving wife of 65 years, Ruth Wilson of Stinnett, son Gary Wilson and wife Beth of Killeen, daughter Karen and husband Alan Piper of Austin, and son Robin Wilson and wife Janet of Stinnett.
His grandchildren include granddaughter Julia Wilson of Killeen, grandson Marcus Wilson and wife Megan of Morse, granddaughter Jenna and husband Tim Williams of Pringle, and granddaughter Katelyn and husband Mark Fagala of Leedey, Oklahoma.
