Roberta Coleman

Roberta "Bertie" Mae Roberts Coleman, 82, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016.

Funeral service will be held 10 am Monday, January 25, 2015 at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Fr. Mitch officiating. Burial will follow in Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. In lieu of flowers her memory may be honored with a gift to Garretson Center, P.O. Box 1239, Panhandle, Texas 79068 or to a charity of choice.

Bertie was born March 9, 1933 four miles south of Panhandle to Myrtle (Hedrick) and David E. Longanacre. She grew up on a farm and driving the tractor. A true Pantherette, she played basketball for Panhandle High School. She was a member of First Christian Church and a charter member of the Panhandle Country Club. Bertie was a member and past president of the Panhandle Country Club Ladies Golf Association and their social community. She enjoyed fellowship at the country club, and Garretson Center. Bertie loved going to casinos and Thursday night blackjack. She was employed at the sheriff's office in the 1950's.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Roberts; and special friend, Gene Smith.

Survivors include her sons, Brad Roberts of Panhandle, Brien Roberts and wife Heather of Canyon; four grandchildren, Rebecca Christy and husband Paul, Jennifer Roberts, Erica McGee, Hope Cooksey and husband Jonathan; two great grandchildren, Jonathan Christy and Aspyn Cooksey; and her beloved cat, Babe.
