Rodney Simons

May 18, 1950 — August 8, 2017

Rodney Simons, 67, of Keller, TX formerly of Borger, TX won the war against cancer on August 8, 2017. He battled long and hard and fought for his life because he loved his family so dearly. Services will be Saturday, August 12, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Christ at Borger with Mr. Denny Sneed officiating. Graveside service and burial will follow at Stinnett Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Rodney was born May 18, 1950 to J.E. and Laveta Simons in Dumas, TX where he lived until leaving for college at West Texas State University. It was there that he met the love of his life, Donna. Rodney and Donna were married and lived in Borger their entire married life until 2 months ago when they moved to Keller, TX to be nearer to Rodney's doctors and to their children and grandchildren.

Rodney was employed by Univar USA, Inc. for 25 years as a Technical Development Specialist and was still working at the time of his death. He always said he never wanted to retire. One of his last sentences was "Give me my phone. I need to talk to someone at the plant about the turn around."

Rodney was a Dumas Demon, WT Buff and Texas Tech Red Raider. There's no doubt it was not a coincidence that the Dumas and Tech school songs are set to the same musical score.

Rodney never met a stranger and he loved his job. However, his greatest love was for his granddaughters. Papa loved his girls to the moon and back. He had the ability to make the rain go away when they had cloudy days.

Rodney is survived by his wife, Donna, two sons, Brad and wife Andrea and their daughters Summer and Claire of Fort Worth, and Bobby and wife Stephanie and their daughter Ella of Colleyville.
