Roscoe Alford

Roscoe Robert (Robbie) Alford, 83 of Amarillo, passed away on Monday, June 14, 2021.  Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 21, at the Central Baptist Church in Amarillo.  Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park at 2:00 p.m. under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors.

Robbie was born on May 11, 1938 in Portales, New Mexico, to Roscoe Randolph and Icie Stigall Alford.  He has lived in the area since 1964, coming from Artesia, New Mexico.  Robbie retired from Phillips Petroleum Company as a Chemical Engineer.  He married Betty Taylor on November 3, 1987.  Robbie loved to read his Bible and was a member of Central Baptist Church in Amarillo.  One of his greatest joys was playing Wahoo with family members.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1972 and mother in 1982, his wife, Betty, his son, Roger Reed and his great-granddaughter, Emma Beatrice Cantrell.

Family left to cherish his memory are his sons, Roscoe Ronald (Ronnie) Alford and wife, Angela of Borger,  Wayne Reed and wife, Annelle of Amarillo, and Steve Reed of Borger; daughters, Lorie Ann Harrelson and husband, Brad of Amarillo, Ginger DeLaune and husband, Lee of Orange Grove, Texas, Twanna Van Loon and husband, Wilson of Borger; daughter-in-law, Pam Reed of Amarillo; grandchildren, Kristell Kotara, Kim Redwine, Chad Reed, Brent Reed, Justin Reed, Kisha Reed, Jess Van Loon, Alisha Hood, Christin and  Jarrod Hall of  Amarillo, Kimberly and Josh Johnson of Borger, Bradley and Jessica Harrelson of Amarillo, Nikki and Matt Scott of San Antonio, Elisabeth Harrelson of Amarillo, Andrew Harrelson of Amarillo, Brandy and Russell Johnson of Columbus, New Mexico, Amanda and Ronnie Bazan of San Antonio, Marcus Cantrell of Corpus Christi, Texas; great-grandchildren, Landree Brinkman, Kylee Redwine, Kynna Redwine, Brody Reed, Skyler Reed, Jenson Reed, Hunter Van Loon, Kaden Williams, Alex Hood, Lana Hood, Hazen Hall, Kynleigh Hall and one on the way,  Hemingway Johnson, Cambridge Johnson, Callaway Johnson, Alexis Harrelson, Peighton Harrelson, Spencer Harrelson, Asher Harrelson, Audrey Scott, Joslyn Scott, McKenzie Johnson, Lukas Johnson, Trinity Bazan, Hailey Bazan, Barrett Cantrell, and Samuel Cantrell;  brothers, Jerry Alford and wife, Chris of Pearland, Texas, Kenneth Neal Alford of Flagstaff, Arizona;  sister, Linda Newton of Artesia, New Mexico; host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
