Fritch R. G. Roy Woods, 81, died Saturday in Amarillo. Services will be 2:00 Tuesday at the First Southern Baptist Church in Fritch with Rev. Calvin Winters, Pastor officiating. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch.
Roy was born in Wynnewood, OK and moved to Shamrock in 1941 and then joined the Air Force. He served with the 8th Air Force 509th Bomb Group during WW II. He moved to Borger in 1950 and married Dora Pepper June 19, 1950 in Clayton, NM. He moved from Borger to Fritch in 1958. He was a member of 1st Southern Baptist Church where he was in the Men Sunday School Class. Roy and Dora were members of the Golden Agers Club. Roy was baptized in the Immanuel Baptist Church in Fritch at age 31 in 1961.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Woods.
Roy is survived by his wife Dora of Amarillo, son Ron and wife Kaye Woods of Amarillo, 1 Brother James Bunk Brashears of Amarillo, 2 Sisters Marie Moose of Amarillo and June Ogle of Richardson, TX, 8 Grandchildren Sherry King, Ranee Woods, Tim Woods, David Woods, Natalie Jackson, Steven Woods, Scott Barnes and Sara Ramirez, 5 Great-Grandchildren Kade, Alex, Josh, Kanon and Braylen.
Casket Bearers will be Les Compton, Bryan Tate, Gale Jester, Johnny Moose, Gary DeShields and Roy Don Pepper. Honorary Bearers will be the Mens Sunday School Class of 1st Southern Baptist Church.
