Royce Wendell Shelton

Royce Wendell Shelton, 84, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 26, 2024, in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Amarillo. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Royce was born January 5, 1940, in Cedaredge, Colorado to Robert Hamilton Shelton and Marjorie Christine Linscott Shelton. He married Phyllis Ann Payne Allen on July 30, 1993, in Borger. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo. Royce enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing pool, painting by numbers and he was a yo-yo master.  He proudly served in the United States Army. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marjorie Shelton; wife, Phyllis Shelton; and grandson, Jeremy Gray.

Survivors include his children, Donnie Allen of Luther, Oklahoma, Dana Rodriguez of Borger, Darin Allen and wife Edie of Amarillo, John Allen of Phoenix, Jennifer Helms and husband Chris of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Connie Rodriguez, Christian Rodriguez, Ben Allen and wife Shelby, Madi Nguyen and husband Bill, Hudson Helms, Stella Grace Helms; ten great grandchildren; sister, Waunell Murphy of Borger; and a host of extended family.
