Ruby Meekins

Ruby Lee Meekins, 76, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017.

Funeral service will be held 2 pm Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Church of Christ at Borger with Mr. Denny Sneed and Bro. Herbert Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family will receive friends from 5- 7pm on Friday, February 3, 2017 at the funeral home.

Ruby was born July 12, 1940 in Enloe, Texas to Johnnie Mae (Clements) and Henry Dennis. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ. Ruby enjoyed working puzzles and doing word searches. She also was a well-known softball pitcher and liked to go bowling.

She is preceded in death by her parents; second husband, Adam Gilford; granddaughter, Rubii LaWanda Ward; brothers, M.C. Dennis, Amos Dennis, J.D. Dennis, Arnell Dennis; and sisters, Brenda Dennis and Dela Cordor.

Survivors include her husband James Meekins of Borger; first husband Ellis Craig of Copperas Cove, Texas; sons, Wade Craig of Borger, Geoff Meekins and wife Vicky of Irving, Maurice Bumpus of Vernon; daughters, Ella Freeman and husband Robert of Copperas Cove, Texas, Jan L. Craig of Tyler, Jackie Avery and husband Ben of Stockbridge, Georgia, Daphne Meekins of Borger; thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; brothers, John Dennis and wife Joyce of Electra, Henry Dennis and wife Kim of Lawton, Oklahoma, Bennie Dennis of Electra, Willie Dennis of Hugo; and sisters, Emmer Jean McGee of Vernon and Linda Shepherd and husband Milton of Electra.
