Rudolph Stephan Cadra, better known as Rudy, was born November 26, 1933 in the family home in the Pakan Community near Shamrock, Texas. He was baptized into the Christian Faith on December 31, 1933 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Shamrock, Texas. During the summer months of 1945 he took instruction in the Lutheran faith and was confirmed on September 23, 1945. He served as Financial Secretary and Elder for Trinity and Good Shepherd Lutheran Churches in Borger.
He was the youngest of six surviving siblings. Three brothers died soon after birth. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eva Valencik Cadra; and four brothers, Godfrey, Edward, John and Elmer. He is survived by one sister, Adela Cadra Shultz of St. Joseph, Michigan; five nephews; three nieces; and several great and great-great nephews and nieces.
He went to work for J.M. Huber Corp in 1959 and retired on February 5, 1993 after 34 years with the company. He enjoyed birding and went as far as Iceland, California, Alaska and Florida and other destinations to pursue his hobby.
Being the youngest of the family was not the ideal thing. His older brother got to help with the farming so he (Rudy) had to help around the home and one thing that displeased him was laundry day. In those days it was a major undertaking and he was given specific jobs to do. One day he made up his mind that he was not going to do them the next wash day. When his mother started giving him orders he told her no. She immediately started crying and screaming for his dad. He came running to see what was going on. When he got the gist of the story he took his pocket knife out, went to a tree and cut of a small branch and started stripping the leaves off. Well, it didn't take him long to figure out what punishment he was about to get and he started yelling "I'll do it, I'll do it". For the rest of his life he didn't care much for "keeping house".
He passed away on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 16 days.
