Russell Troy Chisum, 66, passed away Friday, October 30, 2020.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at the Panhandle Church of Christ. Cremation is under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.
Russ was born February 13, 1954 in Las Cruces, New Mexico to Troy Lee Chisum and Jimmie Sue Burnett Chisum. He married Tanna Burk on July 5, 1998. Russ received his master’s degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, with that degree he worked as an educator, coach and Principal for over 30 years until he retired. He then worked as an educator at the Carson County Square House Museum. Russ enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers, collecting coins and writing; he even wrote for Accent West. Nothing brought more joy to his life than his kids and grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Tanna Chisum of Vernon; son, Ty Russell Chisum and wife Ashley of Lubbock; daughters, Tara Friers and husband Donald of Lubbock, Callie Morgan and husband Taylor of Lubbock; step-sons, Trevor Ray and wife Shvonne of Goodlett, Zach Chastain of Lubbock; grandchildren, Bentley Chisum, Kennedy Chisum, Tatum Hoffman, Tenlee Hoffman, Spencer McMahan, Riley McMahan, Harper Friers and one due to arrive in June of 2021; sister, Shirlyne Grantham of Panhandle; and a host of extended family.
