Ruth Abbott

Naoma "Ruth" Abbott, 90, of Pampa died Saturday, February 11, 2017 in Pampa.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Central Baptist Church in Pampa with Rev. Norman Rushing, Pastor officiating. Graveside services will be 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the Morton Memorial Cemetery in Morton. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

She will lie in state at the Winegeart Funeral Home 303 N. Frost St. Pampa 79065 Tuesday, and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Abbott was born August 31, 1926 in O'Donnell, Texas to Bessie Inez (Bryant) and Oscar R Curtis. She was reared in Morton and attended Morton High School. Ruth also attended college at Mary Harden Baylor in Belton. She married Richard "Dick" Abbott May 31, 1943 in Quart Site Arizona. They moved to Pampa in 1946 and celebrated 71 years of marriage together. They were also members of the Central Baptist Church.

Ruth loved working in the yard with her flowers, and finding time to bowl on a league in her earlier years. She worked for Fites Food Market for a little over 18 years and was a bookkeeper at JC Penney's for 8 years.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dick Abbott March 9, 2014, a daughter Linda Sue Abbott, son in law Grady Rose, and a grandson David Luedecke.

Survivors include a son Doug Abbott and wife Cindy of Pampa; two grandchildren Bill Luedecke and wife Mary Jo, Mechelle Moon and husband Mark; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandaughter; three sister in laws Doris Bahb, Levina Abbott, and Peggy Abbott.
Family will be at 2206 Hamilton St. Pampa, Texas 79065.
