Stinnett

Ruth Inez Benefield, 91, died Tuesday, July 7, 2009 in Spearman.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Borger with Rev. Neely Landrum, Pastor of First United Methodist Church in Spearman and Rev. Ted Wilson, Pastor of St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Borger officiating. Interment will be in Memory Gardens in Pampa under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Inez was born on February 16, 1918 in Oklahoma City, OK to Fletcher Olive Estelle Carter. She had lived in Phillips from 1927 to 1979 and then in Stinnett for 30 years. She graduated from the first graduating class of Phillips High School in 1936. She married Babe Benefield on March 9, 1937 in Panhandle and he preceded her in death on April 23, 1982. She was in sales at Buckley Shoes and was a cashier and sales clerk for Gunn Brothers Stamp Store. She was an active member in many areas at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, was a longtime member of the Book Review Club and volunteered at Helping Hands.

She is survived by three daughters - Gail Orr and husband Voyn of Stinnett, Sharon Cantrell husband Gerald of Borger, Janice Ingram husband Burch of Fritch, sister - Hope Taliaferro of Tulsa, Ok, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Casket bearers will be her grandsons Mike Orr, Brant Ingram, Steve Orr, Bobby Montgomery and Shane Swenn. Honorary bearers will be her great-grandsons Mikal Orr, Sean Orr, Lance Ingram, Danny Escalante, Matt Montgomery and Mark Montgomery.

Donations may be made in memory of Ruth Inez Benefield to Hansford Hospice, 707 Roland, Spearman, TX 79081.

Family will be staying at 116 Ash St. in Borger.
