Ruth Ladell Chisum

Ruth Ladell Jackson Chisum, 92, went to her heavenly home on May 7, 2023, in Seymour, Texas.

Visitation will be held at Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors on Monday, May 15^th in Borger, Texas from 5:00–7:00pm.  Graveside services will be on Tuesday, May 16^th at 11:00am at Lieb Cemetery. 

Ruth was born to Dan Wilson Jackson and Clara May Capell Jackson on August 16, 1930, in Spearman, Texas. 

She married the love of her life, Don Alford Chisum, on September 18, 1948, in Stinnett, Texas.  Ruth and Don had one son, Danny Chisum.

Ruth worked as a beautician and enjoyed gardening and working in her beautiful backyard.  She loved games and spent time playing bridge with many close friends.  Ruth was an amazing cook and known for her delicious meals that she often shared with others.  She attended Stinnett Methodist Church in Stinnett, Texas and was instrumental in starting the prayer shawl ministry in Hutchison County.  Ruth loved watching sports and was often seen in the stands cheering on her son, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was our beloved “Memaw” and one of our biggest fans. 

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her siblings, Loree Harbour, Ada Rose Phelps, Wynell Leverton and Doyle Jackson. 

She is survived by her son Danny and Marsha Chisum of Seymour, Texas.  Two grandchildren, Cody and Alana Chisum of McKinney, Texas along with Kenda and Rusty Gilbreath of Seymour, Texas and five treasured great grandchildren, Caden, Keegan and Kenlee Gilbreath and Chandler and Brynn Chisum.
