Ruth Louise Denton, 89, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010 in Spearman.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 14th with Mary Ingram, Minister officiating. Interment will be in The Garden of Hope at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch.
Ruth was born on February 11, 1921 in Grayson County, TX. She married Jerrell Elton Denton on November 21, 1938 in Pottsboro, TX. She and her husband moved to the Texas Panhandle in 1949. In 1958 they built their home at 300 Hoyne St. in Fritch, which still remains today. In August, 2001 she moved to Perryton, TX to live with her son Jerry and his wife Rita. Then in 2002 she moved in The Seasons, an assisted living facility and remained there until March of 2007, when she moved into Hansford Manor Care Center in Spearman.
Ruth was a wonderful cook, and avid homemaker, and could make homemade biscuits quicker than you could open canned biscuits. She worked for nine years in their Tomato Hot House in Fritch, built by her husband and son Jerry. But her greatest pride was her family and home.
She loved babies and always wanted to know what color eyes you had. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Fritch.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerrell in 1998, and her parents Ansel and Maude Rawlins, six brothers Lee, Aaron, E.N., Dale, Ray and Albert Rawlins, two sisters Lucille Miller and Kathy Rawlins, one grandchild and one greatgrandchild.
Ruth is survived by five children, two sons Jerry Denton and wife Rita of Perryton, Don Denton and wife Linda of Clarendon, three daughters Lynda Osman and Carolyn Brunson and husband Tommy all of Amarillo, Cynthia Denton of Fritch, sister Dana Rogers of Amarillo, brother Harold Rawlins of Lewisville, thirteen grandchildren and nineteen greatgrandchildren.
Ruth was a gentle soul and always a lady. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home in Fritch.
