Sandra “Sandi” Jean Cheshire made her final trip, destination heaven, on November 17, 2019 in Fritch, Texas.
A celebration of her life is scheduled for 10:30 am on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Celebration Family Church in Fritch. Cremation is under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Sandi was a happy addition to Eddie H. Cross and Lorene Willis’ family, making her first joyful noise on October 2, 1953in Sebastopol, Ca. Sandi married Jerry Don Cheshire on May 22, 1986 in Amarillo, Texas.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
She is survived by her husband Jerry Don of the home; stepson Jared and wife Jenn of Bradford MA; brother Raymond Russell and wife Marilyn of Midland, TX; sisters Marlene Richards and husband Rick of Dallas, TX, Michelle Van Sickle of Dallas, TX, Karen Ann Hughes and husband Jimmy of Alma, AK, Sylvia Watts and husband Brad of Midland TX and her beloved cats Lilly Belle and Moses Levi.
Spending her talents to help others and brighten their day was second nature to Sandi. She worked tirelessly to make prayer blankets for others. She was a member of the Fritch Arts and Crafts Club and enjoyed playing cards. Sandi took it upon herself to let people know they were thought of during birthdays and holidays by sending them a greeting card. Inside the card would be a happy thought next to a very cheesy “Sandi-ish” joke. Sandi enjoyed watching Hallmark movies and was a true-to-the-core San Francisco 49er’s fan.
Sandi did so much more for her community. For several years you could find her donned in red with a short white wig on her head. On her face, the same sweet and contagious smile greeted children as they came to see Mr. Clause. Many times, she had stuffed animals to give out, all that she had collected herself. Along with her husband Jerry Don she would deliver food to the clients of Fritch Meals on Wheels, leaving them with their meal and a smile.
Some do not know that she loved photography. It took years before she begrudgingly gave up film to go with a digital camera. Sandi loved music and was a young hippie at heart. Her heart was big and there was room for everyone. A quick smile, a hug and a sweet kiss on the cheek was how she greeted most people who came across her path. Yellow was understandably her favorite color. It matched the light she tried to spread to her friends and loved ones. She served in her church teaching children and has also served as secretary. Her service to God was in her everyday walk. She would call it not a perfect walk, and she would be the first to remind you that perfection was only for one, Jesus.
Her absence will be felt by many; as many as who she loved or who had the joy of meeting her.
In lieu of flowers her memory may be honored with a gift to First United Methodist Church of Fritch, 403 South Cornell, Fritch, Texas, 79036 or the Fritch Meals on Wheels, PO Box 366, Fritch, Texas, 79036.
