Sandra (Sandy) Lee Buckland, aged 66, from Topeka, Kansas, gained her Angel Wings on August 18, 2023.
Sandy was born on April 5, 1957 in Parsons, Kansas to Leah and Theodore (Ted) Buckland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Teddy, her sister Katie, her son Benjamin, granddaughter Lillith and several other relatives.
She is survived by sister Linda; daughters Mandy, Hannah, Erica, and Shelby; son Wyatt; grand-daughters Jade, Freya, and Kayden; grandsons Michael, Thoran, Malcom; great-grandchildren Joseph, Melora, Sylphrena; nieces Jamie and Brittany; brother-in-law Kris; nephew Eric; great-niece Lauren; great-nephews Brody and Eason; Kansas relatives April and Callie and families.
Sandy was a proud Phillips Blackhawk, class of 1975. She participated in band, choir, and tennis. She was in Who’s Who Among American High School Students senior year. Growing up, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Borger, and later she participated in several other churches in the various places in which she resided.
She was often involved in Children’s ministry and in church choir.
Sandy was a talented caricature artist and found this to be a relaxing hobby. She loved the outdoors and nature and found joy in the beauty of her surroundings. She loved animals, not just pets, but also animals in the wild, particularly frogs and squirrels. She was a natural trampolinist who was able to perform multiple flips, twists, and turns.
Sandy helped home school her oldest children and loved the special times they spent together. Sandy also inherited her parents’ green thumbs and loved working with the plants.
She loved her family and enjoyed picnics and fireworks along with swimming and boating at Lake Meredith, family vacations most often to Kansas to visit relatives on both sides, and holiday celebrations when we all got together.
Sandy had a beautiful singing voice which one could always count on as she watched her favorite musicals and Disney movies.
We will miss her dearly but we know she is in a good place with our other beloved family members who have previously departed.
A graveside service will be held at the Stinnett Cemetery on September 6, 2023 at 10:00 A.M led by minister Janet Blair. Services under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
