Sharon Ruth Vance Daughters, 70, died Friday, May 23, 2014 in Dayton, Ohio after a long battle with cancer.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, at the First United Methodist Church in Panhandle with the Rev. Dr. Jerry Lane officiating. Burial will follow in Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.
Sharon was born August 16, 1943 in Amarillo to Harry and Ruth Metcalf Vance. A dedicated educator, she spent the first part of her career teaching in Texas Public Schools and retired after an additional 20 years teaching in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her only daughter, Rinda Gettles.
Survivors include two sons, Willie Daughters and wife, Amy of Washington Township, Ohio and Floyd Daughters and wife, Shelly of College Station, Texas six grandchildren, Joseph, Hogan, Will, Morgan, Jagan and Matthew and brothers, Harry Vance of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Frank Vance of Amarillo, and Bill Vance of Bouquete, Panama.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Harrington Cancer Center in Amarillo.
