Shirley Hood

Shirley Jean Hood, 69, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 13, 2021.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ with Rev. Harry Williams officiating.  Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.  The family requires masks be worn at the church. The family will receive friends from 5-7 on Friday at the funeral home.

Shirley was born November 17, 1952 in Borger, Texas to Ernest Royal and Vassie Lee Chisum.  She worked as a dietician and cook at Golden Plains Community Hospital prior to retirement.  Shirley loved the Lord her God, going to Church and the Dallas Cowboys.  She had a great passion for clothes and shoes.  Nothing brought more joy to her life than her kids, grandkids and great grandkids.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ernest Royal, Jr. and Timmy Joe Royal.

Survivors include her sons, Charles Hood and wife Lashika of Amarillo, Skyler Hood of Amarillo, Timothy Hood of Amarillo; daughters, Tawana Hood of Amarillo, Alexandria Hood of Oklahoma, Kayla Royal of Borger, Jana Royal of Borger; seven grandsons; two granddaughters; two great grandsons, one great granddaughter; and brothers, Jerry Royal and wife Clara of San Diego, California and Johnnie Royal of Amarillo.
