Shirley "Nana" Thrasher McClure, 81, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 30, 2015. She passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's.
Funeral service will be held 2 pm Friday, April 3, 2015 at Celebration Family Church with Pastors Darrell Trout of Harvest Time Church and Justin Unwin of First Assembly of God Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch.
Her memory may be honored with a gift to the Alzheimer's Foundation or the Wounded Warrior Foundation.
Shirley was born in McLoud, Oklahoma on September 1, 1933 to Ira Belton and Mae Agnes Burnett Thrasher. She married the love of her life, Jerry Thomas McClure on March 18, 1951 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Ms. McClure was a Borger Jayceette and served meals on wheels. Shirley was a loving devoted wife, mother and nana. She had a young spirit, a fantastic imagination and was a huge supporter of her family. Shirley found beauty in everything she saw and loved to share her findings with others. She loved to ride motorcycles and bicycles, snow ski, camp and hike. An adventurous spirit, Shirley would try anything once. Shirley was a perfectionist and one of her greatest accomplishments was the chocolate chip cookie, with a little help from Toll House, she created that perfect chocolate chip cookie. She will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing and loving her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry; son, Jerry Wayne; grandson, Caleb Wayne; three brothers, Warren, Ted and Donald Thrasher.
Survivors include a son, Caleb McClure of the home; daughter, Lisa McClure of Fritch; special daughter, Lisa Bennett and husband, John of Fritch; four grandchildren, Lindsay Rayburn and Jared McClure of Fritch and Whitney and Logan McClure of Oregon; four great grandchildren, Davyun of Fritch, Hunter of Colorado, Mason and Hudson of Oregon; two sisters, Aljnita Daniels and husband Bill of Del City, Oklahoma, Sandy Bennett and husband Paul of Visalia, California; two sister-in-laws, Pat Thrasher of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Marilyn Thrasher of Conroe, Texas; and special friends, Donald and Nelda Taylor.
