Groom Sidney Sid Lee Mansel passed away Thursday, October 4th in Amarillo. Memorial Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday at The Cross In Groom with Brother David Kelly, pastor of First Baptist Church Groom, officiating and his nephew Lee Scheetz as soloist and guitarist. Services are under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. Honorary Pallbearers will be Daniel Terbush, Jason Peters, Frank Leven, Chas Leven, Jim Goheen, Kelvin Finck and Vernon Neusch. Sid was born December 11, 1959 in Groom. He graduated from Groom High School in 1978. Sid was injured in 1981 and became a quadriplegic. He loved to ride bulls, go fishing and play computer games. He was a man who enjoyed being with family and friends. He was a shoulder to lean on when someone needed help. No matter what the topic was, he was the man with the knowledge. He had many friends and will be greatly missed. He was preceeded in death by his grandparents Frank Edna Terbush and Howard Mansel. Survivors include his parents - Barbara Herman Leven of Groom and Don and Ann Mansel of Panhandle; 2 brothers - Duane Mansel and wife Charlene of Amarillo and Louis Leven and wife Sabrina of Dumas; 3 sisters - Wynell Neusch and husband Vernon of Panhandle, Diane Dobbins and husband Robbie of Amarillo and Rose Leven of Groom; Grandmother Dorothy Mansel of Amarillo; 21 nieces and nephews, 8 great nieces and nephews and many many good friends. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the Groom Ambulance Service at 101 E. 1st Street, Groom, Tx 79039.
