Steven Steve Tooley Cone, 63, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014 in Borger. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2014 in Minton Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will follow at Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Steve was born on April 15, 1951 in Pampa, TX to Garl W. Todd Cone and Lodena Virginia Tooley Cone. The Cones relocated in Borger in 1953. Steve was a 1969 graduate of Borger High School and attended WTSU on a track scholarship. He owned and operated Cone Natural Gas Measurement in Borger for over thirty years. Steve had a lighthearted spirit, a wonderful sense of humor and dearly loved the many friends that he met during his lifetime in Borger. He enjoyed handicapping thoroughbred race horses, studying Texas Panhandle history, fishing, playing cards and telling his extraordinary jokes. If you ran into Steve about town, you most likely left with a smile or laugh, and thought to yourself, He told me that same joke last week.
Steve was preceded in death by his father in 1991 and mother in 2005.
He is survived by two sons Trevor Cone and wife Kristin of Frisco, TX and Sean Cone of Cedar Park, TX, one daughter Erin Hemelstrand and husband Justin of Amarillo, his brother Stan Cone and wife Sally of Sugar Land, TX, his sister Cindy Pavillard and husband Dan of Amarillo, his loving companion Gina Salazar of Borger and eight loving grandchildren, Kaiden and Karson Cone, Duncan, Parker and Bowen Hemelstrand and Dillon, Carter and Mavi Cone.
Memorials may be made to your favorite charity. The family would like to extend a thank you to Caprock Nursing Home, Gentiva Hospice and special thank you to Lana Tipton for the love, care and support.
