Steven Bruce Shields, 53, went to be with the Lord on September 1, 2016. Steve was born in Borger, Texas, on February 20, 1963, to Jimmie & Carolyn Shields, of Pringle, Texas. He graduated from Spearman High School in 1981 and received a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from West Texas State University in 1985. He was a farmer/rancher in the Pringle area.
On August 29, 1992, Steve opened his arms and heart to LuAnn Kiser of Dumas and her two girls, Tabatha Ann and Tara LuAnn. They had just celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary and were excited about being first time grandparents to Baker Steven Jones. Steve always loved spending his time with the love of his life, LuAnn, his girls, and his faithful companions, his Border Collies.
Steve was a well-respected member of the Pringle and Morse communities where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Morse First Baptist Church. He enhanced many children's lives through their 4-H projects and sports. Most of all, he loved all his girls. He was a dedicated husband, dad, son, brother, farmer/rancher, friend, and most importantly, Christian.
He is survived by his wife LuAnn, daughter Tabatha Jones and husband Matt of Bowie, Texas, daughter Tara Ellis and husband Kris of Frisco, Texas, his mother and father, Jim and Carolyn Shields, brother, Alan Shields and wife Shelly of Boise City, Oklahoma, and sister Connie McCloy and husband Clyde of Pringle, Texas. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Celebration of life will be 2:30 pm Tuesday September 6th at Morse First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Lieb Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
The family requests memorials to be made to the Morse Community Building, Morse, Texas, 79062.
