Thad G. Carroll
Thad G. Carroll, 85, of White Deer, Texas, died October 18, 2015 in Amarillo, Texas. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in White Deer, Texas with Dr. Jerry Lane officiating. A private family burial was held earlier at the White Deer Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle, Texas. Viewing is located at Minton-Chatwell Funeral Home, 510 Main Street Panhandle, Texas from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Mr. Carroll was born on January 9, 1930 in Panhandle, Texas. He graduated from Panhandle High School in 1947 and attended Amarillo College and Texas Tech University. Thad married Cora Hearn on August 25, 1956 in Canyon, Texas. Thad and Cora were married for 59 years.
Thad loved construction projects and enthusiastically took them on at work, at home, and on travel. His work included farming, Mac Truck repair, ditch contract services, and serving for nineteen years as the first supervisor of maintenance for White Deer ISD schools at Skellytown and White Deer. There was nothing that he could not repair or construct. He loved leather working as a hobby and traveling with his wife.
He was a member of the White Deer Methodist Church for over 50 years and served as a trustee for the church for many years.
Thad loved his family. He is preceded in death by his father Edwin Carroll and his mother Miriam Carroll. He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Yeates Carroll, Willard Carroll, and David Carroll; three sisters: Winfred Carroll Kimble, Frances Ann Carroll, and Luella Carroll Fields. He is survived by Paul Carroll, brother, of Seattle, Washington.
He loved his family and will be greatly missed for his kind heart, warm smile, sense of humor, and love for each one of us. Thad is survived by his wife: Cora Hearn Carroll, his daughter: Miriam Lynch, and husband Bill of White Deer, Texas; his son: Monty Carroll and wife Julie of League City, Texas; his granddaughter Jessica Yeatman and husband Warren of Perryton, Texas; and his four great- grandchildren: Raegan , Ryleigh, Josiah, and Wyatt; his grandson: Nathanial Lynch of Denver, Colorado, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
