Thelma Edmisten Kitch of Amarillo, TX died Sunday July 12, 2009. Graveside Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 16 at the Larned cemetery in Larned, KS.
Thelma was born August 13, 1917 to Leonard and Carrie Zahn Edmisten in Burdett, KS. She graduated from Burdett High School in 1935. On January 2, 1938 Thelma married Glayd Kitch in Burdett, KS. They lived in Larned, Hutchinson and Wichita, KS during their married life. Thelma was a member of the Assembly of God church most of her life where she was very active in the Womens Ministry, she taught Sunday school, the Missionette program for young girls and VBS for many years. She was also a homemaker and an excellent seamstress, making drapes for many years. Thelma had been an Amarillo resident for the last five years. Prior to living in Amarillo she lived in Borger.
Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Glayd, August 6, 1979; her parents, Leonard and Carrie Edmisten, three brothers Lloyd, Ralph and Richard; and two sisters Stella and Margie.
Survivors include a son Sherman and wife Lila Kitch of Amarillo; three grandchildren Renee Whitaker of Amarillo, Randy of KCMO and Robb of Fort Worth; eight great grandchildren Reagan and Nick Whitaker of Amarillo, Madison, Tyler and Caison Kitch of Fort Worth, Riley, Kenedi and Trew Kitch of KCMO; three brothers Wid, Royal and Stanley Edmisten and one sister Lorene Froetschner.
