Thomas Elmo Tommy Crawford, 79, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday Feb. 2, 2008 following a brief illness. BRBRFuneral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday Feb. 5th at Panhandle Church of Christ with Mr. John Henley officiating. Burial will be in the Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.BRBRTommy was born July 11, 1929 in New Boston, TX to Thomas and Carrie Crawford. After graduating from high school in Guymon, Oklahoma he enlisted in the Navy and was stationed at Port Hueneme,California. BRBRDuring his lifetime Tommy has been a service station garage owner, a diesel mechanic, a carpenter, and a dairy equipment maintenance man. He had trucking business hauling milk and worked nearly 20 years as a supervisor in the utilities department at Pantex. Tommy also owned Tommy's Repair Service in Panhandle. He was an honest, hardworking honorable man that lived by the Golden Rule and no matter what the job, he gave 100.BRBRHe and Alice were married on September 29, 1962 in Amarillo, TX and have enjoyed 45 happy years together. Tommy was baptized into Christ on April 6, 1999 and he and Alice shared a common love for the Lord and enjoyed worshiping with the Church of Christ in Panhandle. They also loved camping fishing together especially during annual tripts to Lake Eufaula. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Carrie Carford, his youngest brother, John Crawford and a grandson, Shawn Crawford.BRBRHe is survived by his wife Alice of the home, daughters; Marie Allen and husband Jerry of Hooker, Ok., Donna Gaines and husband Larry of Tecumseh, OK and sons; Donald Crawford and wife Christine of Glendale, AZ, Richard Crawford and wife Gale of Plano, TX, and Johnny Crawford of Panhandle, two brothers - Wayne Leonny Crawford of Buna, TX., Porter Mary Beth Crawford of Amarillo, sister - Patricia Gary Strickland of Amarillo,fifteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Tommy had a great love for his family and friends and lived a life of service to others.
