Thomas Barton Stone, 80, died Friday, January 11, 2008 in Springfield, Missouri.BRBRGraveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Westlawn Memorial Park in Borger, Texas with Rev. Terry Stegall, Associate Pastor of Grace Fellowship Church officiating. Interment will be in The Garden of Love at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.BRBRTom was born on July 11, 1927 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Warren Minnie Lee Stone. After graduating from College High of Bartlesville in 1945, he volunteered to serve his country in the US Army, serving in the Army of Occupation in Korea from 1945-1947. Upon his return, he entered and graduated form the University of Oklahoma with a General Engineering degree in 1951. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity while in school. BRBRIn June, 1951, he wed the love of his life, Marjorie Angevine and they were together for 42 years. Tom worked for Phillips Petroleum for 36 years and Marge and he traveled extensively in this capacity to Portugal, South Africa, Texas, Venezuela and Norway, before retiring in Borger. He loved the game of golf and games of chance and seldom missed an opportunity to live life. He was an extraordinary role model, provider for his family and kept a unique sense of humor throughout life. BRBRHe was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie, parents, Warren Minnie Lee, brother, Don and niece, Sally.BRBRHe is survived by his son - Thomas Stone, Jr. of Springfield, MO, his brother - Lee Stone of Dewey, OK, daughter, Leslie Stone of Tucker, Ga, three grandchildren - Lillian, Thomas III, and Sophie of Springfield, Mo., brother-in-law, Howard and several nieces nephews.BRBR
