Valene Jean Watson, of Fritch, died on January 26, 2020 in Amarillo. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. at the First Southern Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 29, with Pastor Dan Brunson officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch.
Valene was born on July 14, 1931 in Caldwell, Kansas to Charles and Cleda Roby Mercer. She married Frank Lee Watson on November 22, 1949 in Caldwell, Kansas. Valene lived in the Fritch area for over 67 years. She was a Nurse Technician for Dr. Elston and at St. Anthony’s Hospital. Valene was a member of T.O.P.S. She especially loved to paint and decorate T-shirts. She also enjoyed crocheting, fishing and hunting.
Valene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; grandson, Jonathan Tollison; brothers Fred and Nolan; sisters, Sally Phillips, and Cleda Baker.
She is survived by her son, Charles Watson and wife, Shirley of Fritch; daughters, Vickie Allen, Sonja Butler and husband, David, Virginia Tollison, all of Amarillo, and Jean Kelly, of Ft. Gordon, Georgia. Valene was blessed with 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
