Velma Attebery Simpkins, 81, of Borger, died Friday, November 30, 2012 in Borger.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the Bunavista Baptist Church with Conny Moore of Borger officiating, and Tommy Batson of Stinnett assisting. Arrangements are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Velma was born January 28, 1931 in Logan, New Mexico to John Edward and Eunice Elta Burris Attebery. She was a Borger resident since 1964, coming from Midland. Velma was a Baptist, and enjoyed crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, and crossword puzzles. She retired as a cook at the Hutchinson County Jail, and also was a cook at Lorenes Restaurant prior to that.

Survivors include her daughter Debbie Gregg and husband Louis of Borger two sisters Maxine Derringtion of Chico, California, Joyce Grimes of Harrisburg, Oregon her brother Kenneth Attebery five grandchildren Troy Gregg, Marc Gregg, Amy Gregg Hogan, Danielle Gregg, Amber Gregg, and five greatgrandchildren.

Velma is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, three sisters, and a son Roger Lafferty.
