Venita Gray

Venita Sue Gray, 75 of Panhandle passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023, at home surrounded by her family and friends. Celebration of life will be 4:00 pm Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at First Methodist Church in Panhandle. Cremation is under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.

Venita was born October 9, 1947, in Pampa, TX to David Duane and Lois (Black) Turcotte. She graduated from Pampa High School, Texas Tech University and West Texas University where she received her master’s in education. She taught at Bowie, Early, and last at Panhandle where she was for thirty years. She married William T. “Bill” Gray on January 19, 1969, in Lubbock, TX. Venita love reading, theater and shopping for antiques.

Preceding her in death are her parents, son, Kevin, brother, Larry, and her favorite dog Duke.

Surviving is her husband, Bill; son, Clark Gray and partner Yvonne Gurrola of Denton, TX; daughters, Joy Shadid and husband Corby of Panhandle, and Katherine Gray and partner Ekkie Wende of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Wil Shadid and Sidney Gray.
