Verna Mae Mills Peters went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 19, 2022 in Borger. Graveside services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, March 25, 2022 at Highland Park Cemetery in Borger. Burial is under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. There will be a family and friends visitation at the funeral home on Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm

Verna was born on June 19, 1930 in Bennington, Oklahoma and entered eternal rest on March 19, 2022 at the age of 91 in Borger, Texas.  Verna was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation and a devout Christian.

Verna was the oldest child of Minerva and Arlo Pamplin and had nine siblings:  James, Claude, Phyllis,  Eleanor, Arnold, JoAnn, Charles, Bernice, and Louella.

Verna married Marvin Mills in 1945 and together they had seven children:  Evelyn, Marvin Jr., Melvin, Ricky, Herbert, and twins Lorri and David. They made their home in Borger and eventually settled in Stinnett where Verna was a housewife and a caregiver, with many talents and hobbies throughout her life.  Verna enjoyed fishing, camping, baking, sewing, crocheting, quilting, playing the piano and singing gospel praises. She was active in her various churches throughout her life and loved the Lord.

In 2009, Verna married Paul Peters and spent her remaining years in Pampa, Texas.

Verna was predeceased by two sisters and four brothers, husbands Marvin Mills (1987) and Paul Peters (2020), daughter Evelyn Kaye Mills Cook, and sons Richard “Ricky” Mills, David Mills and Herbert Mills, grandson Jeremy, great grandson Mikey and great great grandson Dawson.

Verna is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Marvin and Tammy Mills of Haven, Kansas; son Melvin Mills of Pampa; daughter and son-in-law Lorri & Keith Boyd of Stinnett; sisters Eleanor Bully Palmer of Durant, OK; Louella Fobb Olinger of Lufkin; and Bernice Fobb Williams of Bennington, OK. Also surviving Verna is her very own “tribe” of 17 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 22 great great grandchildren.
