Vernon Leon Culver, 87, passed from this life Wednesday, March 10, 2021 in Amarillo. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Stinnett Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch.
He was born April 2, 1933 in Borger to Marvin Leon Culver and Anna Mae White Culver. Vernon was a Lineman for North Plains Electric and had lived in the Panhandle area for his lifetime. He served his country proudly in the U. S. Army from 1953 to 1961. Vernon loved his family and loved nature, tinkering with mechanical things and collecting various items.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sue, his daughter Tena Brooks, his granddaughter Regina Culver, his brothers Hubert and Marvin, Jr. and his sister Margaret Rogers.
Vernon is survived by two sisters, Clara Lou Gifford of Midwest City, OK and Shirley Gage of Beeville, TX, three grandchildren Amy Ellis and her husband Richard, Mandy Taylor and Bobby Jack Brooks, II and Carlie, his ten great-grandchildren Brittany, Galileo, Zachary, Mandalynn, Mariah, Megan, Blake, Kyle, Chandler and Sayler.
Casket Bearers will be Richard Ellis, Bobby Jack Brooks, II, Dillon Chambers and Cody Lewellen.
