Virgil Edward Cripps, 71, passed away Monday, February 29, 2016.
Funeral service will be held 1 pm Friday, March 4, 2016 in the Minton Memorial Chapel in Borger with Pastor Jeremy Rice, officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the funeral home in Fritch. In lieu of flowers, his memory may be honored with a gift to a charity of choice.
Virgil was born March 23, 1944 in Dumas, Texas to Jessie and Claude Cripps. He proudly served in the United States Navy. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Miller on June 4, 1969 in Dumas. He worked for 40 years as an electrician. Virgil enjoyed cooking, reading, fishing with Ryan, but nothing brought more joy to his life than spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the VFW and First Assembly of God Church in Fritch.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leon Cripps; and a niece, Kelly Cripps.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn of the home; daughter, Jana Astle and husband Randy of Amarillo; son, John Cripps of San Angelo; four grandchildren, Ryan Newton, Kenny Astle, Amber Astle, Andrew Astle; brother, Bob Cripps and wife Pat of Sunray; sister-in-law, Lucille Morton of Dumas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
