Borger - Virgil B. Riggan, 79, died Friday in Amarillo. Services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the 1st Church of the Nazarene in Borger with Chaplain Rodney Riggan, Covenant Hospital in Lubbock and Rev. Terry Porter, Pastor officiating. Interment will be in the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon, OK at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday under the direction of Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Riggan served in the U. S. Army during WW II in Germany. He was a faithful employee of the Borger News Herald from 1957 until 1992 in many different positions. He was a member of the 1st Church of the Nazarene where he was the former Music Director and very involved in all aspects of the church. He married Phyllis Smith October 22, 1945 in Liberal, KS. Virgil and Phyllis recently moved to Fritch from Borger where they lived for many years. He is survived by his wife Phyllis, 2 Sons, Roger Riggan and wife Ann of Abilene, TX and Rodney Riggan and wife Wendy of Lubbock, 2 Daughters Helen Riggan and Darlene Johnston both of Fritch, 4 Grandchildren and 5 Great-Grandchildren. Casket Bearers will be Steve Rea, Andy Burcham, Scott Mills, Dr. Randy Gray, Harvey Hathaway and Bruce Hebard. Honorary Bearers will be his Grandsons Kevin Riggan, Doug Southern, Shane Thompson and Dustin Smith. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Jonah's Field Skate Park in care of 1st Church of the Nazarene in Borger
