Walter Charles Dub Cypert, 82, went home to be with the Lord on July 21, 2008. Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Faith Covenant Church with Pastor Les Sharp officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Garden at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors.
Dub was born September 18, 1925 in Culp, Arkansas to William Walker Cypert and Lou Ella Emmett Cypert. In 1936 he and his family moved to the Borger area where he spent the rest of his life.
After graduating from Borger High School in 1944 he joined the US Army and served in the Philippines and Japan. When he was honorably discharged from the Army he had achieved the rank of Staff Sargeant, receiving the Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Army of Occupation Medal Japan, Overseas Service Bars, Victory Ribbon, Asian-Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars Philippine Liberation Ribbon.
In 1947 he went to work for Phillips Petroleum Company and in 1950 he married Janette Pat Easterling. In 1965 he married Laura Gunter Turner. On his retirement from Phillips in 1986 he and Laura traveled extensively and went on many cruises.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, his wife Laura in 2004 and 4 sisters, Juanita Cypert, Elsie Mathews, Opal Barnes and Flo Towe.
He is survived by 3 children, Brenda Cypert Comer and husband David, Emily Turner Sargent and husband Ron all of Borger and Ed Turner and wife Connie of Pampa; 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special little buddy, Luckie.
