Walter Farr

Borger Walter Edward Farr, 86, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 in Borger. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Faith Covenant Church with Rev. Les Sharp, Pastor and Rev. Ken Sheppard, former Pastor officiating. Interment will be in The Garden of Devotion at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Farr was born on July 2, 1923 in Van Buren, Indiana and had been a Borger resident since 1968. He retired as a safety supervisor from Phillips Philtex Plant after 43 years. He was a graduate of Oklahoma University in 1950 and was a member of Faith Covenant Church. Walter was a veteran of WWII in the U. S. Navy where he taught survival swimming. He married Mary Hildebrant on September 11, 1949 in Bartlesville, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Jessie Farr, his brother Lynn and his sister Louise. He is survived by his wife - Mary Farr of the home, two daughters - Janice Piersall and husband Mickey of Dallas, Joy Powell and husband John of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, six grandchildren - Matt Piersall wife Michelle, Alison Williams and husband Dave, Tyler Piersall, Marc Powell, Mary Powell Megan Moffit and husband Kirk. and one great-grandchild - Samuel Williams.BRCasket bearers will be Guy Hughes, Don Birtell, Dick Weddington, Archie Adams, Joe Kitchens and Kerry Manning.BRBRFamily requests memorials be made to Faith Covenant Church, 1501 S.
