Wayne was born on January 16, 1940, to Ray and Jessye Burris in Whitewright, Texas. He attended Phillips High School. Wayne served in the US Navy aboard the USS Charles S Sperry (DD 697) and the USS Haynsworth (DD 700) from 1957-1963. He started his career with Pioneer Natural Gas and worked for Mapco for many years, Panhandle Eastern, Amoco and ended his career with Mapco. Wayne was also a member of the Billy Dixon Masonic Lodge.

He married Neva Lynne Austin on March 17, 1961. They were married 42 years and made their home in Fritch, Texas for most of their married life. Neva preceded him in death in 2002. He was also preceded in death by his dad, Ray and mother; Jessye and his brother in law, Buddy. Daddy loved the mountains and enjoyed collecting firearms and knives and a really fast car! He loved playing a good joke and laughing! He also loved spending his mornings at Chris's Café, solving the world's problems. He felt like he was part of the staff's family! We are thankful they took such good care of him and loved on him.
Pappaw loved and cherished his family! He is survived by his kids; Loree and Tony Patak of Bartlesville, OK, Tammy and Glen Williamson of Nowata, OK, David and Leslie Burris of Fritch, TX and Chad and Tonya Burris of Denver City, TX, Sister Bettye Rowh of Fritch. Grandchildren; Brittni, McKenzi, Courtnee, Chase, Caydn, Colton, Braydn, Broedy, Bryce and Aubrey. Great grandchildren; Emma, Suttyn, Liam and Kamdyn and several nieces and nephews.

We now know that he truly "Feels Like a Million". We love you Daddy/Pappaw!
