Weston Marshall Sherwood, 72, died Sunday, March 30, 2008 in Panhandle following an extended battle with cancer.BRBRServices will be Friday, April 4th at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Panhandle. Interment will be in Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.BRBRMr. Sherwood was born August 4, 1935 in Stratford, TX to Weston Helen Sherwood. He was a lifelong resident of Panhandle, where he practiced law for over 40 years. He loved tellling a good story, usually more than once, time spent with family and friends, preferably at a ballgame or a favorite restaurant. He loved the Texas Longhorns, the Panhandle Panthers and anything made at the Donut Stop. He adored his lovely wife, Stella who preceded him in death by several years, and was proud of his children and many grandchldren. He loved the Lord, and loved worshipping with his brothers and sisters at Amarillo South Church, where he recently became a member.BRBRStella died in 1994, and he was also preceded in death by his brother, Greg Sherwood of Lubbock.BRBRSurvivors include two daughters - Sheryl Oliver and husband, Mark of Panhandle, Susan McCabe and husband, Joe of Abilene; son, Stephen Sherwood and wife, Krista of Austin; grandchildren, Rob, Heath, Joshua, Stella-Ashleigh, Grant, Gabby, Garrett and Gregory and many, many treasured friends and other family.BRBRThe family suggests memorials be made to St. Ann's Nursing Home, Box 1179, Panhandle 79068 or to the Panhandle Panthers Booster Club.BRBRThere will be a visitation for family and friends at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Chruch of Christ Family Center in Panhandle.
