W.F. Bill Montrose, 84, of Borger, died Thursday, January 12, 2012 in Amarillo.
Services will be 2pm. Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Minton Memorial Chapel with Pastor Dwight Kirksey of Celebration Family church in Fritch officiating. Interment will follow in the Field of Honor at Westlawn Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Bill was born April 22, 1927 in Poyner, Texas to William G. and Ethel E. Montrose. He served in the United States Army in WW II, and had lived in Borger over 55 years, coming from east Texas. Bill retired from Phillips 66 as a welder, where he had worked 47 years. He was financial secretary for the local 351 union, and the VFW, avid reader, story teller, tugboat operator, shrimper, and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
Survivors include his son Roger of Borger one stepson Ray Jordan of Amarillo two step daughters Kay Yarborough, Sharon Stottlemyre and husband Danny, both of Borger daughterinlaw Janie Montrose of Borger four brothers Jimmy Montrose of Abilene, Bob and Alvis Wayne Montrose, both of Poyner, Charlie Montrose of Frankston three sisters Ruby Costelo of Goldsboro, Jane Gipson of Abilene, Margaret Riggins of Marshall four grandchildren Heather Barker and husband David, and Jennifer Montrose, both of Borger, Roger D. Montrose Jr., and Eric C. Montrose, both of Amarillo five step grandchildren Christy Taylor, Justin, and Rafe Jordan, all of Amarillo, Greg Stottlemyre, and Jonathan Yarborough, both of Borger seven great grandchildren Tannin, and Payton Barker, Chace Mitchell, all of Borger, Nicholas, Christopher, Jasmine, and Rosemary Montrose, all of Amarillo and several step greatgrandchildren.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents first wife, Cordia Mae second wife, Ruth Faye a son, Roy Montrose and two sisters.
