William Brown

William Bill Wilbur Brown, 94, joined his Lord and Savior on December 10, 2014.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 am Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Panhandle. Burial will follow in Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. The rosary will be recited beginning at 6 pm Monday, December 15, 2014 at St. Theresa Catholic Church. His memory may be honored with a gift to the VFW in Panhandle, PO Box 243
Panhandle, TX 79068.

Bill was born May 18, 1920 to Joe and Mary Elin Brown in Arkansas. He joined the United States Army June 10, 1942 where he was awarded six overseas service bars, European campaign medal and four bronze stars. He was the VFW Post Commander for many years. Active community leader and voted citizen of the year for his civic contribution. After returning from overseas he met and married Cathryn Hanlon on January 26, 1949.

They moved to Panhandle where he worked for SPS until retirement. He was a proud American and a loving family man.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Brown mother, Mary Elin Brown two sisters, Lorain Petit of Carlsbad, California, Mary Johnson of Joplin, Missouri one brother, Herbert Brown and son, Michael Brown.

He is survived by his wife, Cathryn of the home six sons, Joe Brown of Oronoco, Minnesota, Bill Brown, Jr. and wife Pam of Howardwick, Texas, John Brown and wife Sue of Wichita, Kansas, James Brown and wife Cathy of Panhandle, Tommy Brown of Canyon, Carl Brown of Atlanta, Georgia daughter, Susie Boland and husband Pat of California sister, Joan Fruit of Plains, Kansas 15 grandchildren, Jackie and Abe Miller, Kelly Boland, John Boland, Emily Boland, Daniel Boland, Lacy Brown, Ashley Brown, Joe Brown, Jr. and wife Leann, Brent Brown, Brian Brown, Bradley Brown, Melissa Love and husband Wendell, Natalie Brown, Jenna Brown, Cherelle Brown and seven great grandchildren.
