William Charles Gersch, Jr., 80, died Thursday, July 5th, 2007 in Panhandle, Texas.BRBRServices will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Panhandle with Rev. Bud Kidwell, pastor officiating. Interment will be in Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.BRBRMr. Gersch was born on February 6, 1927 in Dallas, Texas to William Charles and Catherine Gersch, Sr. He was an electrical engineer for Chance Vought and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WW II. He married Ruby June Vance on October 1, 1950 in Panhandle. He was a graduate of Texas AM University, was a member of the First United Methodist Church, sang in the choir, golfed, flew airplanes and played the piano.BRBRHe was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby June in 2004 and his son Roger Gersch in 2006.BRBRHe is survived by his son, Barry Gersch and his wife, Elizabeth of Panhandle, three granddaughters - Crystal Crocker of Ironton, MO., Kristi Smith of Dallas, TX, Kelly Gersch of St. Louis, MO; three great-granddaughters - Kaylan Crocker of Ironton, MO, Logan Smith and Khoner Smith both of Dallas, niece - Cathleen Hart of Houston, TX and nephew -Kelly White of Corpus Christi, TX.BRBRCasket bearers will be Wilton Hammond, Jones Hedrick, Alan Daniels, Howard Lane, Elten Vance and Jerry Parker.
