William W. Bill Cornelius was born June 13, 1933, to Fannie and Bill Bearden, in Hobbs, New Mexico. He departed this life Thursday, April 8, 2010. Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, April 10, 2010, 10:30 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Borger, Texas.
Bill attended Frank Phillips College where he played on the Plainsmen Basketball Team. He was honored as the AllAround Athlete and graduated from Frank Phillips College in 1952. He served in Korea with the U. S. Army. He married Cindy on November 4, 1978. He was a Texas Highway Patrolman and worked for Borger RediMix, Borger Sand and Gravel, and was General Superintendent with E. D. Baker Company. After his retirement, Bill was a bus driver for the Spring Creek Independent School District. Bill had served on the Frank Phillips College Board of Regents since 2000. He was a member of the Canadian River Gun Club and Lake Meredith Gun Club. Bill and Cindy are members of the First United Methodist Church of Borger, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Francis Cornelius, his father, Bill Bearden, his brother, Mike Cornelius, and his grandson, Cory Lopez.
He is survived by his wife Cindy Cornelius of the home, son Craig Cornelius of Maine, two daughters, Debbie and husband Steve Peters of Beloit, KS, and Michaelyn and Mike Meyers of Borger, brother James Cornelius of Borger, sister, Sharlene Fowler of Borger, one son, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Bill Cornelius Memorial Scholarship Fund at Frank Phillips College, P. O. Box 5118, Borger, Texas 79007.
