William Robert Bobby McGregor
William Robert Bobby McGregor, 85, was called home to be in the presence of the Lord on July 13, 2009.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am. Thur. July 16th at the First Christian Church in Panhandle with David Theel officiating. Interment will follow at the Panhandle Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 7:00 p.m. on Wed. at the funeral home in Panhandle.
Bobby McGregor was born February 15, 1924 in rural Carson County to his parents, Ben and Cora McGregor. He grew up in Carson County with his three brothers, Harry, James and Marvin, and attended school in Panhandle. Bobby married Betty Jo Durrett on February 10, 1945 in Tyler, Texas while he was serving in the U.S. Army. They enjoyed 57 years together in marriage before Betty Jo passed away in 2002.
Bobby lived most of his life in Carson County, Texas. He operated a farm store in Panhandle, farmed and provided custom hay baling services to local farmers and ranchers for many years. He was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Panhandle. Over the years he was active in his church, with the local VFW post and in numerous volunteer roles. He loved to serve others and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed the outdoors where he loved to fish, hunt and travel the country.
Bobby is survived by a daughter, Melinda Demery of Hurst, Texas and a son, Wynn McGregor and his wife, Lynn, of Grapevine, Texas; four grandchildren, Shawn Demery and his wife, BJ, of Hurst, Texas; Nick McGregor and his wife Shelly, of Justin, Texas; Aaron McGregor and his wife, Lindsey, of Northlake, Texas; Ginna McGregor Reynolds and her husband, Nicholas, of Arlington, Texas; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity or ministry.
