William Wright

William D. Wright of Panhandle died peacefully at home, surrounded by many members of his loving family on Monday, February 1, 2016.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 5, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Panhandle with Pastor Josh Light officiating. Burial will follow at Panhandle Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. There will be a visitation at the funeral home Thursday from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm.

Bill was born on January 17, 1929 to William T. "Chid" and Belle Wright. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate TN and a Masters in Counseling from West Texas University in Canyon. Bill taught math and science in Pound VA and Melrose and House NM before moving to Panhandle in 1956. He was employed at the Amarillo Air Force Base as an instructor and then went to work for Pantex and retired from there after 40 years of service.

Bill enjoyed hunting and gardening and spending time with his family. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Panhandle where he taught Sunday School and served as a deacon for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Jewell Dean Wright, Son Kylon Sitz, Brothers John and Frank, sisters Louise Hibbitts and Jacqueline Stallard.

Bill is survived by his wife Amy. Son Bill Doug and wife Sherry of Amarillo. Daughters Debbie Black and husband David of San Antonio: Daughter in Law Debbie Sitz of Ballinger, TX: Pam Burrows and husband Jerry of Jasper, TX: Teresa Jeffers and husband Mike of Panhandle: Alyson Walker and husband Clint of Panhandle. Brothers Lowell Wright of Mineral, VA and Victor Dan Wright of Reidsville, NC. Thirteen grandchildren and Nineteen great grandchildren.
